Abstract
An electric current carrying structure such as a power line or part of an electric apparatus is made from a copper-base alloy having the following composition: Zr 0.01 to 1 per cent. P 0.005 to 0.5 per cent. Fe 0 to 0.5 per cent. Si 0 to 0.5 per cent. Cd 0 to 2 per cent. Cu the balance. The alloy may be prepared by adding the constituents to molten copper contained in a graphite crucible employing a slag forming substance such as sodium silicate and an inert atmosphere or vacuum melting to exclude oxygen from the melt. The cast alloy may be annealed at 900 DEG C. for one hour cooled in water or air and cold worked. Specification 578,003 is referred to.
