In a sink unit of synthetic plastic having one or more basins and a separate draining board 1 comprising a rest 8 forming the rim 10 thereof, the joint between the basin proper 12 and the draining board being below the rim 10 of the basin, the inner edge of the rim of the basin formed by the draining board is smaller than the upper edge of the basin proper 12, and the rim 10 comprises an extension 11 extending below the joint between the rest 8 and the basin 12 and at the joint is a flange connection 3, 4 with a seal 9. For the connection a tongue 6 on the basin 12 fits into a groove 7 on the rest 8 beneath the seal 9, the joint being made by bolts 5. The draining board 1 has longitudinal channels or like depressions 13 and has metal strips 14 running preferably longitudinally, e.g. on raised portions secured thereto by pin connections 15. The strips may be mounted in grooves and may have a dove-tailed cross-section. A drain connection 21 comprises an integral perforated plate 22 and is extended by a threaded sleeve integral therewith or a separate connection 24, e.g. of metal, having apertures 26 to join the connection 21 to the perforated plate 22. The drain connection may be integral with crossed webs carrying the integral perforated plate, an annular gap having a tapered boundary wall being formed between the plate and the outlet, the web having indentations near the gap having knifelike boundary edges so that dirt is removed when an overflow pipe is inserted in the gap.
