Abstract
811,682. Photographic masking frames. LEITZ G.m.b.H., E. Jan. 4, 1957 [Jan. 9, 1956; Dec. 3, 1956], No. 413/57. Classes 98(1) and 98(2) The sides of a masking frame overlap the margins of sheets of photo sensitive material by a constant amount irrespective of small variations in the size of the sheets. The size of the mask is variable by means of strips 2e, 2f movable against tension springs 9 and provided with depending arms 10 which co-operate with the edges of the sheet 6 to vary the position of the strips 2e, 2f in accordance with the size of the sheet and to ensure that the sheet engages fixed abutments 4a, 4b. In another form intended to be combined with automatic print insertion and ejection means sides 35a of depending arms 35 contact sheet 6 while sides 35b contact with leafspring 36 which overcomes compression spring 33. Spring 33 ensures that the print is released from the arms 35 when the frame 25 is raised from the base 20. Margins of equal width are thus formed all round the print or alternatively should there be any risk of damaging the corners during wet processing, opposite margins may be of equal width and adjacent margins unequal, so that all corners can be made sharp by trimming only two sides by an equal and constant amount after processing.
