Abstract
810,528. Blasting devices. HAYDENNILOS Ltd. Oct. 25, 1957 [Dec. 22, 1956], No. 39144/56. Class 9(1) A fluid-pressure operated blasting device is secured in a borehole 2 by means of an extension having an axially bored body 1 slotted to house pivoted spikes 14, each slot being in communication with the bore 5 in which is a slidable member 6, 7 adapted to urge the spikes outwardly of the slots into engagement with the walls of the borehole. The extension is screwed on to the inner tube 4 of the device and has a nose 10 held in position by a screw 9 passing through the member 6, which has a collar 7 forming a bearing surface for a spring 12 urging the member 6 against shoulders of the spikes 14. The slidable member may be arranged to receive the direct thrust of the gases from a charge placed in the borehole ahead of the device. With this arrangement the compression spring may be omitted.
