808,746. Vehicle brakes. DAIMLERBENZ, A. G. Aug. 9, 1956 [Aug. 13, 1955; June 12, 1956], No. 24437/56. Class 79(5) [Also in Group XXXIV] In a water-cooled disc brake installation for a motor vehicle the brake is mounted on the sprung part of the vehicle, for example on the frame or self-supporting body of the vehicle, and the brake shaft 22 is connected by a cardan joint 33 whose centre lies on the axis M of the steering pivot or kingpin 34, to the pivot 42 of the wheel 41 and serves as the upper guiding link for the wheel. The lower link 36 is pivotally connected by joint pins 35, 37 to a sleeve 34a embracing the pivot 34 and to the frame 40 respectively. Two coil springs 38, 38<SP>1</SP> serve for the springing of the wheel 41 and are abutted at one end. against the lower link 36 and at the other end against a bracket or two brackets 39 extending from a cross-member of the frame 40 and are disposed one side of the shaft 22. The wheel 41 is fixed to its pivot 42 which is coupled by the joint 33 to the brake shaft 22 and is mounted in a housing 43 which is rockable about the steering pivot 34.
