Abstract

805,127. Copying lathes. BATIGNOLLES-CHATILLON. Sept. 8, 1955 [Sept. 13, 1954], No. 25743/55. Class 83 (3). A copying lathe in which the templet is provided with return connecting strips has means for indexing the templet to bring different profiles into operation, and a switch drum controlling the speed of the feeler for each indexed position, the switch drum being carried by a shaft rotated synchronously with the templet and also provided with abutments to control the saddle on which a tool slide is mounted. A turning tool 2, Fig. 3, and facing cutter 9 carried by a cross slide 8 have their transverse movements controlled by a feeler 1 attached to the slide contacting a templet 19 with a number of different profiles. The latter is supported for rotation between a headstock bracket 21 and tailstock 22, adjustably mounted on a crossbeam 20. The templet is indexed by a toothed driving mechanism 26-38 from a shaft 29 driven intermittently by an electric motor 30. The shaft 29 rotates synchronously with the templet and carries length stops 34, 35 for the longitudinal feed of the carriage 4, and a control drum 44 at one end which co-operates with switch gear 46 to control the automatic operation of the lathe driving members.
