Abstract

804,532. Etching. S.D. SYNDICATE, Ltd. July 25, 1957 [Aug. 2, 1956], No. 23891/56. Class 100(2) Apparatus for melting " dragon's blood " on selected areas of a partially etched printing plate comprises a rotatable carrier 3, 4, 5, a motor for rotating the carrier in stages, one or more heating elements 12 located in a sector of the circular path of the carrier and one or more cooling elements 14, 15 located in another sector of the path beyond the sector in which the heating element is located. The motor drives a gear 6 which engages the periphery 4 of the carrier, rollers 9, 10 being provided for guiding the carrier. One of the four sectors is open while the remaining three are covered by a hood 11, the heating element 12 and a reflector 13 being located in one sector, and cooling elements being located in the other two sectors. The carrier is rotated in stages of 90 degrees the open sector being provided for removing a treated plate and replacing it by one to be treated.
