Abstract
801,790. Transparent building panels. INGRAM, G. May 13, 1957 [June 14, 1956], No. 18392/56. Classes 20(3) and 87(1) A transparent building panel comprises a frame 1 of wood, aluminium, cork or stiff plastic material, enclosed by a single sheet 2 of polythene, fibre-glass, etc.; the sheet 2 is wrapped around the frame and heat-sealed at its overlapping edges. A single cavity 3 may be formed, as in Fig. 1, or the opposed portions of the sheet may be flexed inwardly and joined together by spot-welding &c. at spaced positions, as in Fig. 4. In a further modification, Fig. 5, the cavity is subdivided by webs 4 of translucent plastic material. The sheet 2 may be reinforced by wire mesh or by extra pieces of stiff plastic material. Valved apertures may be provided in the frame for inflating or evacuating the cavity.
