Abstract

799,503. Two-part couplings. CLANG, Ltd., and BARNETT, A. Feb. 23, 1956 [Feb. 23, 1955], No. 5384/55. Class 38 (1). A plug-and-socket connector, particularly for use in mines, comprises a socket part 1 having concentric contacts 16, 18 mounted on an insulating block 14 and a plug part 2 having concentric contacts 23, 25, the former being mounted in an insulating rod 24, an insulating flange 19 in the socket and interfitting insulating flanges 21, 26 on the socket and plug forming closed chambers round the inner and outer contacts respectively when the plug and socket parts are engaged. A gland packed with fibrous insulation is provided at the end of each part.
