Class 20(4) A fastener, e.g. for securing a beading to a metal panel 19, comprises a plate-like body 11, means extending upwardly from the body to engage the beading, and a tongue 12 sheared and bent downwardly from the body so that the main portion thereof lies spaced from and approximately parallel with the body, the end of the tongue being sheared to the shape of a pair of prongs 14, 15 which are folded back upon the tongue so as to be directed inwardly and towards the root 13 of the tongue. As shown in Figs. 1, 4 and 5, a downwardly directed detent 12A is sheared and bent out from the body 11, and wings 17, 18 are bent upwardly and inwardly. The tongue 12 is entered into an aperture 20 formed in the panel 19 until the root 13 of the tongue abuts the end of the aperture and the detent slips into the aperture; the prongs 14, 15 bite into the panel and together with the detent effectively prevent the fastener from being withdrawn. The beading is attached to the fastener by snapping the flanges thereof over the wings 17, 18, or sliding the beading endwise over the wings. In modification, (a) one of the wings 18A is formed with a pair of lugs 21, Fig. 7, which catch an edge 23 of the flange of a beading 24, and (b): one wing is curved.
