Abstract
797,279. Conductor arrangements. CHRISTIANIA SPIGERVERK. March 10, 1955 [March 12, 1954; Sept. 11, 1954; Sept. 11, 1954], No. 7098/55. Drawings to Specification. Class 38 (4). The currents flowing in four or more parallelconnected conductors supplying alternating current to a furnace are equalized by an iron core having a number of holes through which the conductors pass in pairs in such a manner that the magnetic field of one conductor of a pair opposes the field of the other conductor, and all but two of the conductors each traverse two holes, whereby it is magnetically coupled with each of the two neighbouring conductors, so that all the conductors are linked together in a magnetic chain. The two end conductors of the chain each traverse one hole only and are thus only coupled to one other conductor. Each conductor may comprise a group of smaller conductors. The impedances of the several conductors are preferably arranged to be as equal as possible and the parallel connections are made only at their ends.
