Abstract
The invention comprises chromium complex compounds which contain less than 2 atoms of metal per 2 mols. of a dyestuff of formula <FORM:0796381/IV (b)/1> where X is Cl or Me and R1 is a straight or branched butyl or amyl radicle which is substituted by one or more OH groups. They may be made by chroming the product obtained by coupling, preferably in a weakly alkaline to alkaline medium, a diazotized 2-amino-4-chloro-or -methyl-6-nitro-phenol with the appropriate pyrazoline component. Specified pyrazolones are 1 - phenyl - 3 - methyl - 5 - pyrazolone - 31-sulphonic acid -(111 - methylol- and 111,111-dimethylol) - propyl- and -(111 - methyl - 111-methylol and 111,111-dimethylol)-ethyl-amides. The products dye fibres spun from organic solvents, e.g. cellulose acetate, polyacrylonitrile and polyesters, and are used as pigments for plastics and lacquers. Examples are provided of the preparation of metal dyestuffs and their use in colouring cellulose acetate in a blue-red shade, the components used being chosen from those listed above.
