Abstract

Paints, lacquers and like coating compositions comprise a mixture of benzene hexachloride and D.D.T. in non-crystalline form in the ratio of 10 parts by weight of the former and 90 parts of the latter to 50 parts of the former and 50 parts of the latter. One or more softeners, e.g. alkylesters of monobasic and polybasic organic acids, for example, phthalic acid and adipic acid, and fatty acid esters of polyvalent sugar alcohols may also be incorporated.ALSO:A composition which may be contained in paints, lacquers, waxes and like coating compositions having prolonged insecticidal activity comprises a mixture of g -benzene hydrochloride and D.D.T. in non-crystalline form in the ratio of from 10 parts by weight of the former and 90 parts of the latter to 50 parts of the former and 50 parts of the latter. The two insecticides may be dissolved in a common solvent, e.g. cyclo hexanol, cyclohexanone, tetrahydronaphthalene, a -methyl-naphthene, liquid fatty alcohols, e.g. higher monohydric alcohols such as octanol, nonanol, decanol and dodecanol, and resin esters. One or more softeners, e.g. alkylesters of monobasic and polybasic organic acids for example phthalic acid and adipic acid and fatty acid esters of polyvalent sugar alcohols may also be incorporated.
