Abstract
795,354. Ornamenting. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd. April 11, 1956 [April 28, 1955], No. 12280/55. Drawings to Specification. Class 93 [Also in Group XL(a)] Multi-colour phosphor screens in dot or strip form are produced by a method in which a deposited layer of one phosphor, e.g. blue Zn S/Ag and a binder, is covered with a photo-sensitive resist layer which is exposed through, the appropriate dot or line negative, the unexposed resist washed away and the underlying phosphor-binder layer at these unexposed parts removed by solvent or chemical action, e.g. polyethylene glycol. A further layer of phosphorbinder, .e.g. a green phopshor such as willemite, is applied to the screen and covered with a layer of resist and exposed and treated as for the first layer, and is followed by a similar step for the red phosphor, e.g. Zn Cd S/Ag or manganeseactivated zinc phosphate. The phosphor layers may have additional protective layers of nitro cellulose. The resist may be amonium bichromate and fish glue, or dichromated gum or polyvinyl alcohol. The hardened resist material may then be removed by dilute potassium hydroxide and the screen baked to disperse the nitro cellulose binder.
