Class 44 A fastening for a refrigerator or like door 4 comprises the combination of spring- loaded press-button 5, a bell-crank lever one arm 7a of which serves as a catch - piece which is adapted to extend from the free edge of the door for engagement with a keeper 8, and a link 9 interconnecting the other arm 7b of the bell crank lever with the inner end of the press button, the arrangement being such that in the unlatched position of the fastening the second arm 7b of the bell crank lever forms, with the link 9, an extended toggle linkage, which requires to be broken by movement of the catch-piece before the fastening can move to the latched position, whilst in the latched position of the fastening the second arm 7b of the bell crank lever extends parallel to the push button and the link 9 exteads substantially at right angles thereto, so that the fastening is held in the latched position until the push button 5 is actuaed.
