Abstract

793,930. Turbine and compressor-bladed rotors. PURVIS, J. T., and SACHS, R. M. Aug. 10, 1954, No. 23223/54. Class 110 (3). A turbine or compressor rotor is formed at its periphery with a plurality of axially-extending slots which are undercut and receive the correspondingly-shaped blade roots, locking devices being provided to prevent endwise movement of the blades. Each blade-mounting slot 15 is formed at its base with an axially-extending groove 16 of rectangular cross-section so that when the blade root 17 is inserted, a rectangular passage is formed beneath the blade root. A locking pin 20 in the form of a strip of rectangular cross-section is disposed in the passage, one end of the pin having a pair of stops 23, 24 disposed on opposite sides of the pin and engaging the blade root and the rotor respectively, at least one of the stops being bent to the locking position after assembly of the blade in the rotor. The stops 23, 24 are formed by a longitudinal slit 22 in the end portion of the pin, thus providing a pair of tabs lying side-by-side. The locking pin shown has a pair of tabs 23, 24 provided at each end of the pin and both tabs 23, 24 at the left-hand end of the pin (see Fig. 2) and one of the tabs at the other end of the pin may be bent to the locking positions before assembly. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 672,401.
