Abstract

792.511. Resilient mounting. METALASTIK. Ltd. June 1, 1956 [July 1, 1955; July 20, 1955], Nos. 19162/55 and 21066/55. Class 108(3) The invention relates to a vibrationabsorbing support comprising at least three angularly spaced rubber-like springs 13 sandwiched between a support member 8 and a load-carrying member 7, the compression axes of the springs 13 being directed towards a focal point y. According to the invention, either the member 7, or the member 8, is mounted on a pedestal 10 for movement axially along the pedestal 10. As shown, there are three springs 13, and the member 7 is rigid with the object 5 to be supported. The member 8 is in screw thread engagement with 'the pedestal 10, but is prevented from rotation relative to a base. member 9 by means of a peg 25. On rotation of the pedestal 10 by means of a squared portion 27, the member 8 is thus raised or lowered. The member 7 and the object 5 are thus raised or lowered as the case may be, and the correct position of abutment surfaces 20, 21, relative to a deflection-limiting stop 18 adjustably mounted on the pedestal 16, is regained. In a modified constrution, the member 8 is rotatable, relative to, the base 9 but is held from axial movement by the action of a retaining ring. The pedestal 10 is rigid with the member to be supported and is in screw thread engagement with the member 7. Rotation of the member 8 acts through the springs 13 to rotate the member 7 and thus vary the axial position of the latter relative to the pedestal 10.
