Abstract
792,280. Portable locks; sliding door &c. fastenings. BEARDMORE, J. D. K. March 20, 1956, No. 8711/56. Addition to 703,557. Class 44 A device for use in securing a pair of sliding doors which overlap in the closed position comprises relatively movable components providing a front stop adapted to be positioned in the path of opening movement of the front door and a rear stop adapted to be passed between the overlapped portion of the closed doors and then moved into the path of opening movement of the rear door, the components being adapted to be secured against relative movement by a separate lock, e.g., a padlock to hold the stops in their relative position. As shown, a casing 1 is attached to one side edge of a door by a spring clip 2 and includes a staple 3 which is engageable by a hasp 7 adjustably carried by an arm 5 passing through the casing 1 and between the two doors. The arm 5 is bent to form a stop 6 which in the position shown permits relative sliding movement of the doors but which when the hasp 7 is engaged over the staple 3 and secured by a padlock, extends across the adjacent side edge of the second door when the latter is moved to the closed position. In a modification, both stops may be provided in one only of the components.
