Abstract

790,877. Storing liquefied gases. LEROUX, R. Jan. 24, 1956 [Nov. 18, 1955], No. 2307/56. Class 8(2). [Also in Group XXXIII] In a ship for the transport of fluids (in particular butane and propane) under high pressure and comprising one or more tanks to contain the fluid, each tank is substantially circular in cross section and is divided into compartments 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 by transverse partitions 7. The partitions 7 may be convex, or flat as at 30 in Fig. 16, the flat partition being reinforced by stiffeners 31 arranged in the form of a star and connected to longitudinal stiffeners 29. A ship having one tank only, Fig. 14, has longitudinal stiffening partitions 26 arranged inside the tank. Each tank may contain metallic members arranged to improve the conduction of heat between the fluid within the tank and the exterior of the tank.
