Abstract

790,218. Drilling; punching. BRISTOL REPETITION, Ltd., and ARENGO, C. G. Oct. 27, 1955 [Oct. 27, 1954], No. 31062/54. Classes 83 (3) and 83 (4). A multi-operation machine tool comprises a table 11, through which project tool-operating push-rods 31 actuated by cams 33 on a shaft 26 below the table, and an indexible work-holder 20 having separate workpieces at stations 21. The cams 33 are provided on three shafts 25-27 and are accessible by removing covers 61. Further cams 37, 38 respectively operate a swinging ratchet 24, to advance the holder 20, and a ratchet-restraining plunger 47. A spring- pressed plunger 58 locks the holder in position. Tool heads are mounted on the table 11, the tools being driven by individual motors and fed by the push-rods. For a punching tool, however, the push-rod may provide the only motion. Two or more rods may act on a tool to produce a compound motion. The push-rods may also actuate work-loading and ejecting means.
