Abstract

790,191. Making waveguides. MIDDLESEX GUN CO., Ltd. Oct. 20, 1954 [July 21, 1953], Neo..20174/53. Class 83 (2). [Also in Group XL (b)] A waveguide is made by coating a removable former 1 with a thin layer 3 of metal which is then covered with laminated resinous material 11 to give the required strength. The former is made of a suitable fusible or soluble plastic, metal or wax. The metallic layer is about 0.001 in. to 0.015 in. thick and may consist of copper. The laminations 11 may be made from cotton fabric impregnated with ethoxylene resins. The fabric is wound around the metallic layer 3 and around the flanges 7 which are secured in position by an adhesive 9 as described in Specification 790,192, [Group XL (b)]. A coating 13 of metal provides electrical contact between the flanges 5 and the metallic layer 3.
