Class 146(1) A cabinet for the storage of cards or the like comprises a rectangular open-topped substantially horizontal storage compartment 1 forming the top of a table-like structure 5 and a second storage compartment 12 above the compartment 1 mounted for movement thereover in the direction 14 so that when in the rearmost position, an operator at the front 3 has access to the lower compartment. Card trays 2 are removably placed in compartment 1 and are vertically stacked with cards. Less frequently used cards are stacked in trays 15 in the upper compartment 12. The compartment 12 runs on rails 10 on the sides of compartment 1 and on rear extensions 11 and'has a handle 17 for manipulation. A leaf 18 extending from back to front of compartment 1 runs on rails 6 in the direction 7 and is used as a writing table. An extension of the leaf 18 may be provided to slide thereover in the direction 14 and may be arranged so that forward movement of the compartment 12 moves the extension forward for use in sorting cards from trays 15. The compartment 12 in the fully forward position may prevent access to the compartment 1. A foot lever or pedal may be used in place of handle 17. Specification 718,862 is referred to.
