Abstract

788,379. Ventilating apparatus. LARSSON. G. E., PERSSON, S. 1., and AHLSTROM, S. A. Feb. 2, 1956 [Feb. 3, 1955; Sept. 27, 1955], No. 3372/56. Class 137 A ventilating and space heating apparatus comprises a lower fresh air compartment 1 and an upper compartment which is partitioned into a heat chamber 5 accommodating a convector 4, and a bypass chamber 6, the ventilation air being ejected into the upper compartment through holes 2a in a roller 2 which is rotatably mounted in the upper wall of the compartment 1 so that the ventilation air can be directed in the desired proportion towards the two chambers 5 and 6, or wholly towards one, or the other, chamber. Due to the ejector action, room air, sucked into the apparatus through an opening 3, mixes with the rising ventilation air and'passes out through openings in the top of the apparatus. When all of the ventilation air is directed toward the by-pass chamber 6, the tendency for some air to rise upwards through the convector 4 is counterbalanced by a subpressure which is produced by room air as it is sucked in through the opening 3, and tends to suck air downwards through the convector. For controlling the supply of fresh air the roller is provided with two sets of holes, one set of holes 8 being larger than the other set 7, and one set being presented to communicate between the upper and lower compartments while the .other is shut off by means of screens 9. In a modification the roller 2 is replaced by a nozzle having adjustable directional vanes.
