Abstract

The invention comprises 7-acetyl-1 : 2 : 4 : 4 : 6-hexamethyl-1 : 2 : 3 : 4-tetrahydronaphthalene which is prepared by condensing p-cymene with 2-methyl-pentane-2 : 4-diol in the presence of sulphuric acid, and acetylating the resulting condensation product with acetyl chloride. An example is given.
