Abstract
787,373. Boxes. KRAUSE, O. W. Jan. 11, 1956 [Jan. 12, 1955], No. 1017/56. Class 18. [Also in Group XV and XX] In a box for photographic or other rectangular plates, mounts, or transparency frames, in which alternate plates or the like fit into grooves on only one side of the box, the sides are inclined outwardly, and the base of the box has oppositely inclined grooves, the bottoms of which are at right angles to the ungrooved part of the side wall at which they end. Preferably, the grooves are spaced along either side by a distance which is slightly greater than their width so that plates of a thickness equal to this width will be practically in contact with one another when arranged in the box. As shown, two adjacent edges of a plate 6 lie in contact with one inclined side wall Z and the bottom of the groove 41 in the base 4. A third side of plate 6 is held in a groove in side wall 3. A side edge of a plate 7, immediately behind plate 6, lies in contact with the surface of wall 3 so that the plate is oppositely inclined with respect to plate 6. The complement of plates for a section of a box or for whole box may be placed in the box in its entirety, the plates assuming their inclined positions as they fall into place. Intermediate walls dividing the box into sections may be removable. One end wall of the box may be provided with a recess, projection or lip for tactual identification. When the boxes are stored on top of one another, ribs 18 on the bases engage rabbets 19 on the lids 8. A resilient layer 23 may be provided on the underside of the top of the lid.
