Abstract

786,313. Contacting gases with liquids. METALLGES AKT.-GES. Oct. 24, 1955 [Nov. 25, 1954], No. 30358/55. Class 55 (2). [Also in Group XL (a)] A venturi washer 4 is coaxially built into an electrostatic precipitator 7. The gases are accelerated downwards on to the surface of a bath of liquid 5 and then deflected upwards. Water is injected into the venturi under pressure, e.g. 6 atmospheres gauge, through nozzles 18. The nozzles 18 may be positioned in the neck of the venturi and may inject perpendicularly to the gas flow instead of axially. The water is recycled from the bath 5. Further nozzles 9 may be provided above the precipitator. Nozzles 11 are separately supplied with deep-cooled water. Specification 363,978 is referred to.
