785,958. Steering vehicles. DAIMLERBENZ AKT.-GES. Nov. 28, 1955 [Dec. 6, 1954], No. 34044/55. Addition to 746,169. Class 79(5) In a motor vehicle in which the front axle 11 has springs 13 and is abutted against the frame 14 by a triangular stay system 17 and by a separate transverse link 15 and the rear axle (not shown) is guided and sprung by longitudinal leaf springs (not shown), the front wheels 10 are steered from a steering gear 20 through a vertically pivoted lever 23 and a link 25 which does not cross the axle 11. As shown the axle 11 is connected by struts of the system 17 to a bracket 18 resiliently mounted on the vehicle frame so that the axle can swing about a horizontal transverse axis x-x.. Steering pivots 12 on the axle 11 interconnected by a track rod 27 carry wheels 10 and one of the pivots 12 is connected to the drop arm 21 of the steering gear 20 by an arm 26, the link 25, the lever 23 and a further link 22. The vertical axis 24 of the lever 23 lies in the same transverse plane as the axis x-x.
