[Also in Group XXI] The lower end of a suction pipe 1 extends freely into an upright substantially cylindrical jacket 3 that is open at both ends. The jacket 3 may have guide vanes 9 disposed in front of the suction pipe inlet which vanes may also project below the jacket 3 to support it. Alternatively, or in addition, to the vanes 9 there may be a number of longitudinal ribs 10 projecting radially inwards from the inner surface of the jacket 3 and extending downwardly beyond the jacket so as to support it. The jacket 3 may be firmly fixed to the bottom 5 of a liquid container 5.
