Abstract
785,606. Ventilators. PEARMAN BRIGGS, Ltd. Feb. 22, 1954 [Feb. 23, 1953] No. 4937/53. Class 137 A louvre ventilator (e.g. for a vehicle) comprises a frame 10 adapted to fit into an opening 12 in a wall 11, e.g. of a caravan, and accommodating an adjustable louvre panel 14, an external canopy 22 being secured by screws 26 to the external surface of the wall around the opening 12. The ventilator is made by pressing, or moulding, a light gauge transparent material, e.g. polyvinyl chloride, or acrylic resin. The frame 10, converging outwardly to enable it to be pressed easily into the opening 12, has an outwardly turned flange 15 along its inner edge which is secured to the inner face 11a of the wall 11, and an inwardly turned flange 13 along its outer edge against which the panel 14 lies in the closed position. Sectorshaped lugs 17, cemented to the vertical side portions 16a of the frame, have flanges 18 which form stops for the louvre in its open position. The vertical edges 17a of the lugs 17 are spaced from the inner faces of the flanges 13 to form a channel 19 therebetween, tongues 20 projecting from the upper side edges of the louvre falling into the channel 19 when the panel is placed in the closed position. The lower edge of the panel 14, at each end, rests freely in the angle between the lower ends of the flanges 18 of the lugs 17 and the inner surfaces of the flanges 13 to provide a free hinge arrangement. A strip 21 cemented to the louvre forms a handle for operating the louvre which can be completely removed from the frame for cleaning purposes
