Abstract

785,259. Shaft couplings. CLAROSTAT MFG. CO., Inc. Dec. 5, 1955, No. 34747/55. Class 80 (2). In a shaft coupling for an electrical control, the shaft 19 has an end portion comprising a flattened portion 20<SP>1</SP> and a spigot 20 which co-operate with a transverse slot and a drilling 16 in a control spindle 12 journalled in, and projecting beyond a screwed sleeve 13, the transverse flat faces of the shaft 19 and spindle 12 abut at 23 and are held in this relation by a spring ring 18 engaged in grooves 22, 17<SP>1</SP> in the shaft and spindle respectively. The end of the control spindle and the shoulders of the flattened portion of the shaft are shaped to facilitate assembly. In a second embodiment the electrical control is screwed into an insulating sleeve held in the wall 15 and the shaft 19 is made from insulating material with a metallic end-piece.
