783,076. Lathe-details. WALDRICH, O. Dec. 17, 1953, No. 1501/57. Divided out of 783,075. Class 83 (3). A roll-turning lathe is provided with steadyheads adjustable along the bed, and which extend on both sides of the vertical projection of the work-axis but asymmetrically disposed thereto, the rearward-extension being such that the resultant force of the cutting-pressure, the mass of the work and that of a finished testroller, if used, passes within the boundaries of the main supporting area for the steady-heads. The steady-head 9 is supported at the front on a ledge 10 of the bed and at the rear on a raised rear-wall 1 having guide-surfaces 5, 6. The steady is clamped in adjusted position by T-bolts 11 and is provided with supportbearings for the roll 15 in which the grooves are to be turned. Gauging. In order to enable the profile of the roll 15 to be matched with the other roll 18 of a pair, the completed second roll 18 is supported by arms 16 adjustable by screws 16 on the upper-part of the steady-heads.
