Abstract

782,857. Eggs, cleaning. McCONNELL, J. R. Feb. 21, 1956 [March 15, 1955], No. 7450/55. Class 28 (2). Eggs traversed along a conveyer 1 are wiped by the vertical run of an endless belt 4 of wetted towelling and then are dried by a coaxial dry endless belt 9. A guide bar 14 holds the eggs on the conveyer and in contact with the belts 4 and 9. The cleaned eggs are then delivered to a padded shoot 10 and roll on to a platform 11 part of which is perforated to allow hot or cold air from a fan 12 to dry the eggs. The conveyer 1 is driven at one end from a motor 2, the other end having sprockets and chains to drive the belt rollers; 5 shows the upper horizontal roller for the endless belts, the lower roller of the first belt 4 being immersed in a water trough 8.
