Abstract

779,791. Pit props. DOWTY MINING EQUIPMENT, Ltd. Dec. 15, 1955 [Dec. 15, 1954], No. 36339/54. Class 20(2) A pit prop has end caps 10 of large area having sockets 12 in which the end 28 of the prop has rolling contact and spring- pressed bolts 23 return the prop 20 into alignment with the cap after tilting of the prop. The cap is reinforced by fins 13 on four of which at right angles the sockets 14 for the spring bolts are mounted. A peg 29 on the prop engages a recess in the socket 12. A washer 32 prevents coal &c. en-. tering the socket.
