Abstract

778,809. Control lever mechanism for cycle brakes. BARTHOLOMEW, F. C. June 17, 1955 [July 15, 1954], No. 20696/54. Class 136(1). A cycle brake control mechanism comprises a support 2, a bracket 5 secured to or integral with the support and adapted for securing the support to a handle bar 1, a control lever 3 pivotally mounted at 16 upon the support and a secondary lever 4 projecting from the control lever 3. The lever 4 provides a control means operable from a position of a hand upon the handle bar spaced from the position from which the lever 3 is operable. The levers 3 and 4 may be integral or the lever 4 may be adjusted by turning it about the axis of a bolt 26, a screw 27 being provided for engaging in any of three holes 28 in the lever 4. A control cable 20 is received in a bore 19 of the lever 3. The cable casing extends into a recess 22a in a trunnion 22 which is mounted in the sides of the support 2. The support 2 is formed from, a single piece of sheet metal.
