Abstract

777,596. Lawn mowers. FLEETWAY MANUFACTURING CO., Ltd. Oct. 10, 1955 [Oct. 11, 1954], No. 29258/54. Class 6(2). A motor driven mower comprises means whereby the drive may be applied to the cutter cylinder only or to both the cutter cylinder and the propulsion means of the implement. The drive from the power shaft 15 is transmitted to the cutter cylinder 10 by means of a roller chain 18 and sprocket wheels 16, 17 mounted on the cylinder and shaft respectively. A bellcrank lever 28 journalled on a stub shaft 23 in the side plates 14 of the mower supports at the end of one arm 27 a sprocket wheel 30 which engages in the roller chain 18 to transmit drive to the roller 11 via a series of gear wheels and pinions. The other arm 29 of the bell crank lever is formed with a handle 31 whereby the lever may be rotated about the stub shaft 23 to disengage the sprocket wheel 30 from the roller chain 18, thereby disconnecting the drive to the roller.
