Abstract
776,082. Photographic developing solutions. KODAK, Ltd. Nov. 29,1955 [Nov. 30, 1954], No. 34619/54. Class 98(2) A photographic developing solution comprises catechol as the developing agent together with at least 9 grams per litre of caustic alkali (calculated as NaOH) and at least 40 grams per litre of sodium thiosulphate (calculated as Na 2 SO 3 ) and 75 to 175 grams per litre of sodium sulphite (calculated at Na 2 SO 3 ). At least 60 grams per litre of sodium thiosulphate may be used, and an amount of caustic alkali giving from 9 to 16 grams per litre (calculated as NaOH) uncombined with any sodium bisulphite which may have been used may be incorporated. After processing in the solution, a print can be immediately wiped without rinsing or washing, and dried. An example of a suitable solution is given, and stock solutions for mixing to obtain a working solution are specified, that containing the catechol also including sodium sulphite and bisulphite.
