Abstract

776,042. Feeding sheets. HEYWOOD, B. C. July 3, 1953, No. 5705/56. Divided out of 776,041. Class 100(1) In mechanism for feeding sheets from a pile 9 a resilient scraper finger 41 also acts as a feeler for controlling the height of the pile. The finger 41 is secured to an arm 42 on which it is adjustable by the screw 44, and rests on the leading edge of the sheet 8. When the sheet is secured by suction separator 7 the finger scrapes off any second or third adhering sheet. An electric contact 40 can be set so that when a given number of sheets have been fed the platform supporting the pile 9 is raised. The sheets are fed by the separators 7 between feed rolls 14, 15 and the pile 9 is supported between guides 10 and 11, the guide 11 having a slot cut therein so that a blower 12 can direct air against the leading edges of the pile.
