Abstract
775,248. Resilient mountings. IMRIE, N. D. (Schloss, F.). July 28, 1955, No. 21809/55. Class 108(3). A resilient mounting comprises a spool-like member 12, a resilient body 20 attached to one (as shown, 26) of the flanges 16, 26 of the member 12, and formed with an internal cavity by which at least part of its inner surface is spaced from the member 12, and a mounting plate 18 attached to the body 20 at or near its plane of maximum external body diameter. Under static load, the lower surface 69 of the body 20, is out of contact with the flange 16. The outer contour of the upper part of the body 20 comprises three frusto-conical portions 62, 64, 66 differing respectively in cone angle. Normal vibrations in a lateral direction are accommodated by shear of the upper part of the body 20. Lateral shock is resisted in compression, by the engagement of the bore of the body 20 with an enlargement 44 of the shank 40. In a modification, suitable for lighter loads, Fig. 6 (not shown), the enlargement 44 is omitted. The mounting is adapted for isolating sound.
