Abstract
775,132. Moulding-processes. FAIRBAIRN LAWSON COMBE BARBOUR, Ltd. Sept. 7, 1955 [Oct. 14, 1954], No. 29590/54. Class 83 (1). Complex shell-cores are made by blowing parts of the finished core-assembly which are next, either hor or cold, placed in a hollow heated core-mould having the form of the finished core, and are then combined to form a whole by blowing a sand-resin mix into the mould to form a final part and cause the said parts to adhere to one another. In one embodiment, one part of a core is made by a shell-moulding process, and then placed, either hot or cold, in a heated core-box into which a second part of the core is blown to adhere to the first part, and the whole assembly heated to complete the curing of the resin in the last blown part. In a modification, Fig. 2, the part 6, 7 is shell-moulded and then placed in a core-box having a further cavity into which the part 8, 9 may be blown in either of the directions C, D. The further sections 10, 11 and 12, 13 may be blown in successive core-boxes, or alternatively, one core-box only may be used for the complete core, various sections being blanked-off so that the core may be blown progressively section by section.
