772,389. Sound and picture apparatus. STEATIT-MAGNESIA AKT.-GES. July 6, 1955 [July 7, 1954], No. 19562/55. Class 40 (2). In a motion picture projector arranged for use with sound reproducing apparatus and having a take-up roller and a guide over which the film passes to the take-up reel are arranged to serve as the feed roller and sound scanning device, respectively, of the sound reproducing apparatus. In the Figure, a film 1 is drawn from reel 2 over a sprocket 3 by a reciprocating claw 4 which shifts the film step by step through the picture projector. The film is drawn over take-up roller 6 which is driven at constant speed by an auxiliary motor, preferably a synchronous motor, a spring-loaded pulley 8 holding the film in positive driving contact with the roller 6. A guide 12, carrying the sound scanning device, guides the film to a roller 13 from which the film is drawn on to reel 11 through the medium of a slipping clutch. Sound only may be reproduced from the film by passing the film direct to pulley 8 from reel 2.
