Abstract
772,048. Rollers. HANMADE CONVEYOR CO., Ltd. Oct. 26, 1954 [Oct. 26, 1953; Nov. 26, 1953], Nos. 29476/53 and 32801/53. Class 42 (2). [Also in Group XXX] In a conveyer idler of the kind comprising two end discs between which extends a sleeve, each disc having a central bore for receiving a shaft about which it may rotate, the discs each have annular means which are both resilient and fire resistant located intermediate the axis of rotation and the periphery of the disc. In Fig. 1, each disc is made of fire-resistant rubber and has a bore 5 provided with an enlargement 6 into which is pressed a ball bearing 7 for receving the reduced end portion 14 of a shaft 13. The discs are each positioned by a shoulder formed by the reduced portion abutting a washer 12, and by a washer 16 adjacent lock nuts 17, 18 on the threaded end of the shaft. The sleeve 3 is secured to the disc by pegs 4. In a modification, Fig. 7, the enlargement 6 is further enlarged to form a space 25 packed with grease or other lubricant for the bearing 7. An additional space 24a serves as a trap for dust. Fig. 4 shows an embodiment in which each disc consists of rings 19, 20 provided with webs 21 and the bearing 7 is located in the ring 19. The rings are bonded together by fireresistant rubber 22. In Fig. 5, the rings 23, 24 extend over only part of the width of the disc. Specification 649,687 is referred to.
