Abstract

771,291. Combined buffer and drawgear. AMERICAN STEEL FOUNDRIES. Aug. 30, 1955 [Nov. 17, 1954; Dec. 31, 1954], No. 24851/55. Class 103(5). The yoke 28 of a combined buffer and drawgear has its forward end cylindrically bored as at 42 to receive a collar 50 to which the coupler shank 26 is secured by the pivot pin 74 thus enabling the truck to be emptied in a rotary tippler without being uncoupled from the adjacent trucks. The shank 26 has a spherically shaped end surface 62 to engage the front follower 47 thus relieving the pin 74 of buffing loads.
