771,267. Filters. KNECHT, A. July 8, 1955, No. 19859/55. Class 46. When a thumbscrew 5 is unscrewed and a housing cover plate 2 is raised to remove a filter pack 1, a compression spring 19 bearing at the bottom against a threaded bush 8 raises a sleeve 17 sliding within a collar 7 until the upper end 22 of the sleeve comes into contact with a stop 13 on a part-hollow central stem 4. In this position the sleeve 17 prevents flow of liquid through holes 12 into the hollow part of the stem 4 and out through the bush 8. A rubber washer 15 inserted into the central hole of the lower cover plate 14 of the filter pack 1 fits over a contracted neck portion 16 of the sleeve 17. The filter pack 1 comprises a generally-tubular paper element pleated to a star-shaped crosssection.
