Abstract

770,770. Workholders. BARRUS (CONCESSIONAIRES), Ltd., E. P. (Blackhawk Manufacturing Co.). March 31, 1955 [April 1, 1954], No. 9607/54. Class 83 (3). A workholder comprises a mounting 1-8 and a number of work-engaging units 19 on the mounting, the units being adjustable vertically, angularly in a horizontal plane, and towards their position of securement on the mounting. The angle-pieces 19 are pivoted on arms 17 secured by screws 18 in sleeves 16 carried by posts 12. Adjustable collars 14 on the posts bear on sleeves 10 in which the posts are secured by clamps 13, the sleeves 10 being fixed to the tops of the uprights 1-4 of the mounting. A welded or bolted bridge-member 21, Fig. 4, for supporting a tool such as a ram, by means of a bolt 23, may slide between the angle or channel-members 5, 6 of the mounting. The workholder may also have clamps 20 on chains, and the angle-pieces 19 may be located outside the rectangle of the mounting members 5-8 to engage large workpieces such as the sections of car bodies.
