770,604. Lapping. POTTS, F. C. (Hahn, & Kolb). June 13, 1955, No. 16902/55. Class 60 A machine for the lapping of workpieces in which the work-pieces held in supports are treated between two lapping discs arranged vertically one above the other, has two lower lapping discs 4, 5 arranged side by side and the upper lapping disc 6 may be selectively swung on a pivoted arm 7 over either of the lowerlapping discs. Each lap is driven by a pole-changing three-phase motor, 10, 11 and 12 having a pole-change switch 13, 14 and 15 by which the direction of rotation and three speed stages of the motors may be selected. The circuit.for the motors is controlled by a master control push-button switch 16, whilst a switch (not shown) actuated by a cam on the arm 7 causes: one or other of the motors 10, 12 to be switched on automatically with the motor- 11 according to the position of the lap 6. The lap 6 may be vertically 'adjusted in the arm 7.
