Abstract

770,591. Drying glue. ARMOUR & CO. May 13, 1955 [June 25; 1954], No. 13909/55. Classes 34(1) and 34(2) In a method of drying animal glue, a layer of glue is formed on each of at least two rolls 10, 11 and is removed as a continuous film a, b, by knives 20, 21, the films being superimposed on each other and passed through a hot air drying oven 31 on a conveyer to produced continuous multilayered sheet of glue. Glue is fed to the. rolls by rollers 12, 13 rotating in vessels 14, 15 and the layer is held against the steam heated rolls by air streams from blowers 16, 17 while hoods 18, 19 exhaust moist air. The films a, b pass between calendar or chill rolls 22, 23, 24, 25 on to conveyers 29, 30 and are crinkled. The first stage 34 of the drying zone is operated at temperatures below the fusing point of the films but the second stage is operated at air temperatures above the fusing temperature so 'that the films fuse together.
