Class 75(2) A shade adapted to be held inverted against a wall or ceiling comprises a frame carrying translucent flexible shade material 9, a lampholder support which is either integral with the frame or is held in position by, attached to or forms part of a ceiling fitting such as a ceiling rose 26. and a helical tension spring 36 detachably secured at one end to the frame and attached at its other end to anchoring means held in position by, attached to or forming part of the ceiling fitting, the translucent flexible shade material 9 having a removable portion 21 providing access to the helical spring. The shade is of truncated conical form and comprises a frame having upper and lower wire rings 6, 7 joined by stays 8. The removable portion 21 is of circular form and is held below the aperture at the apex of the shade on a wire ring 19 secured by U- shaped wire members 20 to the lower wire ring 7 of the frame. The removable portion 21 has a hem containing an elastic cord for detachably securing the portion to the' wire ring 19. The lampholder support comprises a wire bent to provide a circu-. lar portion 33 in which the lampholder is clamped and a second circular portion 29' adapted to be clamped between the ceiling rose 26 and the ceiling 25, the second circular portion 29 having a radial extension 30 forming the anchorage for the upper end of the helical spring 36. The lower end of the spring is hooked on to one of the U-shaped wires 20. The spring extends parallel to the common vertical axis of the ceiling rose and lamp. The flexible shade material 9 is detachably secured to the frame by means of draw cords enclosed in hems or folded tapes associated with the edges of the material. If the material of the shade is plastic the overlapping portions projecting inwardly over the upper wire ring 6 of the frame may be sealed together by heating. The shade may he pyramidal nr trough-shaped or shaped as a circular or elliptical bowl.. In a modification the shade is of elongated form accommodating a plurality of lamps or an elongated lamp and two tension springs co-operate with two anchorages associated with the lamp fitting and the shade frame. In a further modification two or more lampholder supports radiate. inwardly from the larger frame ring of a truncated conical shade.
