769,425. Clamp fastenings. MITCHELL, W. R. M. May 3, 1054 [May 2, ,1053], No. 12209/53. Class 44. A holder for brooms, tools, &c. comprises a U-shape bracket having a base secured to a wall &c. and two . arms projecting substantially normally to the base and forming, respectively,. a stop to limit movement of a cam pivoted between the arms about an axis normal to the base, and a limb, the handle of the tool being passed and retained between the limb and the cam. As shown, a U-shape metal or plastic frame 1 secured to a wall 6 has projecting limbs 3, 4. The handle 13 is gripped between the limb 3, ribbed at 7, and the ribbed surface 10 of a gravity-operated cam 8, preferably formed of synthetic rubber and eccentrically pivoted on a pin 9. The heel 12 of the cam abuts the limb 4 when the distance between the gripping surfaces is a minimum. In modifications, the operative face of the cam periphery is formed with a longitudinal groove of V or curved section or is stepped and the limb 3 and/or the operative cam face is inclined to prevent the handle from falling forward out of the holder.
