Abstract
769,302. Beaming machines. HOLT, Ltd. T. and LEE, G. July 17, 1953 [April 17, 1952], No. 9633/52. Class 142 (1). Each end of a warp beam B is mounted in a carriage 19 connected to an hydraulic ram and cylinder 16, 17, pivoted at 16a, whereby a full beam can be moved along a slide 18 and lowered over the end 18a of the slide on to the floor or truck and a new beam can be drawn into the machine and held against a driving drum 12. Each carriage 19 has releasable bearings 20a, 20b for the beam arbor and has a roller 202 engaging the slide. A rack 38 at each side of the loom and attached to the adjacent ram meshes with a pinion 42 fixed on a shaft 41 extending across the machine to ensure that the rams move in unison. The beam 12 is driven by an electromotor through a belt drive. The rams are supplied with fluid from a tank 22 via a valve 31, a pump 23, a pipe 32, a reversing valve 27, and pipe 36 or 37 depending on whether the rams are extending or retracting. The valve 27 is reversed by a lever 28. A safety valve 35 which opens at excess pressure is connected by a pipe 34 to the tank. A pressure gauge 26 and an adjustable pressure valve 25 are provided. An electromotor 24 drives the pump. The machine is controlled by push buttons.
