Abstract

Molasses-forming calcium, sodium and potassium ions are removed from sugar juices and the juice to some extent decolourized by temporarily exchanging them for ammonium ions in a single cation exchanger at a temperature up to 95 DEG C. and pH above 7; the juice is then treated with calcium hydroxide and the excess hydroxide removed.
